The best new show on television

Friday Night Lights

I’ve been watching Friday Night Lights on NBC, and it’s by far my favorite new show on television. I’m not even a fan of football; it’s that good. The series has some of the sharpest dialogue and storylines I’ve seen anywhere — kudos to the writers on the staff who set the bar high, and keep meeting it episode after episode.

Another favorite of mine this season is Brothers and Sisters on ABC, but the quality of its new episodes have drifted away from the sting and urgency of its pilot. Of late, it’s been moving into dangerous sentimental territory with its teary theatrics and over-indulgence on a pop and soft-rock soundtrack.

Watch Friday Night Lights and give Brothers and Sisters a shot. Then let me know what you think.
